For the third consecutive week this quiz has a sort of theme. Well, the questions didn't relate to Poppy's at all or Remembrance Sunday but the money that the teams put in for the quiz was donated to the cause. So after a small contribution by me to round up the fund we got a cool £40.00 to donate which is certainly pretty good just for a casual Sunday evening.
As for the quiz, well, I was really excited about one particular round and that was the Connection Round. SPOILERS FOLLOW: So the connection this week involved me. Pretty much what I was wearing and what I was holding were answers in this round and yet not one team got it! I would have loved a team to get it. I tucked my t-shirt into my jeans for tonight so that people could see I had a BELT (Asteroid Belt was the answer) and rather than people question why I had my shirt tucked in, instead they just laughed at my appearance amongst themselves! What scoundrels! And despite many teams commenting that the t-shirt I was wearing had THE BEATLES written on it which was one of the answers, the penny never really dropped with any of them. I was even sipping WATER when I asked the WATERLOO question and repeatedly said "I will be giving clues". Saying all that, I don't think I'd have got it either, but I did think at the time that it was a brilliant idea when I came up with it!
Just in case you thought I'd pocketed the cash! |

Anyway, as for the results, well, Chapel Fields Mafia returned after a week away but couldn't ascend to the top of the leaderboard, and even had they gone for the Wipeout Round's last question they would have found themselves half a point short. Mike Oxlong continued to impress but a particularly poor picture round (2/10) ultimately meant that they weren't leaving as victors. It was therefore left to That's Tragic and We Still Didn't Start the Fire to wrestle it out and both scored in the 40's. However, We Still Didn't Start the Fire pulled it out of the bag and snatched victory by 1 and a half points meaning they claim their second win to date and thwarting That's Tragic from a historic fourth victory.
41.5 We Still Didn't Start the Fire
41.5 We Still Didn't Start the Fire
40 That's Tragic
39 Mike Oxlong
37.5 The Discovery Destroyers
36.5 Quizee Rascals
36.5 Quizee Rascals
35 Chapel Fields Mafia -1
27 Rub a Dub Dub - The Farmer, the Dentist & the Gas fitter in the Pub
24 I'm Ryan Taylor and I'm Ginger + Sexy (Apparently)
Good quizzing from everyone really and some solid scores throughout. The pictures this week were hard mainly because they were pretty ambiguous in some cases and the black and white didn't help but that made it all the more fun with all the mix ups that each team did!
The fun didn't end there, Open the Box was at £125 and with a 1/10 chance of picking the correct key Mike from The Discovery Destroyers nailed it and walked out the pub with more cash than he'd walked in with. Well done!
